One, Two, Three and Away!
The series of 150 books is being republished in hard copy form (please encourage your local library to stock them!) and will also be available to read online in the 1, 2, 3 and Away! Library. Incorporate The Village With Three Corners into daily playful activities!
The 36 Pre-Readers (designed to be introduced at the end of the SSP Purple Code Level, after a solid foundation of phonics has been established) are both 'Monster Mapped' and 'Code Mapped.' in the ICRWY Lessons app.
This approach helps children understand the phoneme (speech sound) to grapheme (letter/s) mapping of every word in a way that is accessible to every child—even as young as three years old—regardless of their progress within the Speech Sound Pics Approach GPC learning sequence.
When they encounter the 'regular text' version, they will be able to focus on the meaning, as the word mapping element will have already been thoroughly explored.

Even though Luca had learned the Grapheme-to-Phoneme Correspondences (GPCs) in the synthetic phonics programme used at school (mandated as the only way to teach reading in England), he finished primary school unable to read or spell (scoring 84 on SATs).
So, he learned all the Phonemies—Speech Sound Monsters—in about two weeks and was then able to figure out any word because, alongside this, we did extensive work to help him hear phonemes, identify their order, blend, and manipulate them—developing the essential phonemic awareness needed to decode and encode. The graphemes are shown in black/grey, with blue used for the Sound Pic Sandwich (split digraph), and the phonemes represented by the Phonemies. We show the code—making learning to read and spell so much easier, at any age.
The 1,2,3 and Away! books expose learners to many commonly used (high-frequency) words, and in the early stages, the books are repetitive and predictable, helping him to figure out words. But we also ensure he is ‘gluing’ together speech sounds, spelling, and meaning—Speech Sound Mapping Theory in action. The Code and Monster Mapped books are in the ICRWY Lessons app.
